Our professor for Typography II put us in groups and tasked us with creating the entire alphabet using Microsoft Copilot, a relatively new and powerful AI image generator. Using these new letter forms, we created a card set.
Our group decided to focus on a set of cards inspired by space, stars, black holes, and telescopes. While I'm not much of a fan of AI, because our professor was making us do this, our group opted to really lean into the AI, using it to write the text and create the telescope image for our cards too.
After we generated all of the AI content, the images were ran through filters in Adobe Photoshop to make them more visually cohesive.
AI Experimentation
To start, our professor had us do three rounds of AI experimentation. Since there our group had four members and there are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, we added "!" and "?" to divide the work evenly. I was tasked with working on U-Z and "!".

Body Parts: Hands
Black Holes
Video Games: Roblox
Additional AI Content
We ended going with the Black Holes theme and tasked AI with generating more content for us.
"In the vast expanse of space, where stars whisper secrets across cosmic distances, telescopes serve as our silent translators, deciphering the language of the universe written in the constellations. Through their lenses, we gaze not only into the depths of space but also into the depths of our own understanding, unraveling the mysteries that lie beyond the boundaries of our comprehension."     --  Intro Card Text Generated by ChatGPT
We also generated this telescope to use for the back of our cards.
Final
Here are the final card designs for letters U-Z. I also worked on the design for the back of the cards. A team member worked on the intro card. To fill up the empty space above and below the letters, we used Adobe Photoshop's Generative Image Fill. Each design was ran through Posterize, Gradient Map Noise, and several other tools.
